In-Pool Sunbeds

More about In-Pool Sunbeds

A sunbed is the largest and most social piece you can put on a tanning ledge. Instead of a single seat facing one direction, you get a broad platform that two people can share, lie across sideways, or use as a gathering spot for kids in shallow water. It is the piece that turns a Baja shelf from a wading area into a destination.

Round or square

The Signature Round Sunbed reads as a soft, resort style daybed and works well on curved or freeform ledges. The Affinity Square Sunbed has a lower, more architectural profile with a backrest cushion, and its straight edges line up cleanly against a rectangular shelf or a raised bond beam.

Planning the space

Sunbeds need more ledge than they first appear to. Confirm both the footprint and the water depth, and leave clear walking room around at least one side so the shelf is still usable as a path into the pool. Because a sunbed anchors the whole area visually, most designers place it first and arrange chairs, side tables and umbrellas around it.

Add an in ground umbrella mount or a cantilever umbrella nearby for shade, and pair with an ice bin table so drinks stay within reach.
